Safety Warnings: Users are cautioned against improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, or maintenance, which can result in property damage, injury, or death. Thorough reading of all instructions before installation or servicing is emphasized.
Important Information: The product contains chemicals known to cause cancer and reproductive harm. Proper installation and servicing are crucial to avoid exposure to harmful particles and gases.
Specifications: Detailed specifications for various models of the RBA Regal Series are provided, including dimensions, number of burners, BTU/hour ratings, and gas manifold details.
Installation: The manual outlines steps for uncrating, positioning, and setting up the char-broilers, emphasizing proper air supply, ventilation, adherence to local codes, and installation of a gas pressure regulator. Clearances and positioning are crucial for safe operation.
Standards and Regulations: Installation must comply with applicable state and local codes, including standards for grease extractors, power ventilators, and smoke detectors. A licensed plumber is required for gas supply installation, and a manual shut-off valve is essential.
Testing and Adjustments: All gas connections must be tested for leaks using a soapy solution before lighting pilots. Guidance is provided on adjusting pressure regulators and ensuring proper gas flow.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for optimal performance. Guidelines for daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning, including specific instructions for cleaning stainless steel components, are provided.
Service and Parts: The document emphasizes the use of authorized service agents and genuine parts for repairs and maintenance to maintain warranty coverage and ensure safety.
Initial Operation: Before lighting any pilots, ensure all burner valves and thermostats are turned off. Follow a specific sequence to light the pilot lights, including turning off the manual shut-off valve, closing pilot adjusting screws, and gradually opening them while applying a lighted match. Adjust the pilot flame as needed and ensure the main burner lights from the pilot.
Final Preparation: New units are cleaned with solvents at the factory but should be washed thoroughly with hot, soapy water before use. Top grates should be removed and washed.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and longevity. Daily cleaning involves removing and washing broiler grates and radiants. The double drip tray system should be checked and cleaned regularly. Stainless steel parts should be wiped with hot, soapy water and cleaned with a suitable liquid cleaner at the end of the day. Avoid using abrasive materials.
Service and Parts: Installation, maintenance, and repairs should be performed by an authorized U.S. Range service agency. Regular checks and maintenance are recommended as part of a kitchen maintenance program.
Installation: Ensure proper air flow during installation to avoid interference with pilot or burner operation. Use approved flexible connectors and quick-disconnect devices for installations requiring them. All gas connections should be tested with soapy water to detect leaks, as using an open flame is dangerous and ineffective for small leaks.
Regulator Adjustments: Regulators are factory-set but may require adjustments for local conditions. Adjustments should only be made by qualified personnel using appropriate testing equipment. Absence of a pressure regulator voids the equipment warranty.
Introduction: The document provides detailed installation and operational guidelines for the Regal series of radiant charcoal broilers manufactured by U.S. Range. These broilers are available in various widths and can be used as standalone units or integrated into kitchen setups.
Specifications: The Regal series includes models RBA-24, RBA-30, RBA-36, RBA-48, and RBA-60, with widths ranging from 24 to 60 inches. Each model has specific BTU ratings and dimensions, and all are equipped with a 3/4 inch NPT gas inlet.
Installation Guidelines: Installation must comply with local codes and standards, including ANSI/NFPA guidelines for grease extractors, electric fans, filter units, and smoke detectors. A licensed plumber or gas technician should perform the installation, ensuring the inclusion of a manual shut-off valve and a gas pressure regulator.
Legal Regulations: Proper installation is crucial for safe operation. The installation must adhere to local standards or, in their absence, to the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1, and relevant Canadian codes.
Gas Supply: The gas supply line should match or exceed the size of the appliance's inlet. For conversion to propane or natural gas, contact a certified service agency.
Clearance and Ventilation: The installation area must be free of combustible materials. The broilers should be installed under a hood with grease filters and collectors, and adequate clearance should be maintained for repairs and proper operation.
Unpacking and Inspection: Upon unpacking, inspect the equipment for any transport damage. The nameplate on the right side of the appliance provides essential information for service and parts replacement.
Warnings: The document includes warnings about potential exposure to chemicals and carbon monoxide, emphasizing the importance of professional installation and maintenance.
Maintenance: Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for optimal performance. The document outlines daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning routines, especially for stainless steel components.
Service and Parts: Only authorized service agents using original parts should perform maintenance and repairs. Unauthorized modifications or repairs can void warranties and lead to unsafe operation.
