WATERPROOF MORTARS/RAPID-SETTING MORTARS PRODUCT DESCRIPTION BI MORTAR RASO SEAL is a spatula-applied fibre-reinforced cement-based levelling compound. This creates a continuous waterproof coating. PRODUCT APPLICATION • Waterproofing of under or above ground concrete or masonry surfaces Particularly suitable for: • Mixed material or concrete underground structures, also in combination with other products from the BI MORTAR line • Basins, tanks and channels, walls in general • Prefabricated elements such as wells, ditches, concrete piping and similar ADVANTAGES • It simplifies and reduces the application phases by featuring ’’two products in one”, as it evens out and waterproofs in a single application • Also applicable on uneven surfaces • Excellent adhesion on most types of substrates such as concrete, mortar, stone, brick • Good surface finish thanks to its fine grain size • Waterproof levelling compound also suitable in conditions of negative hydraulic pressure PREPARATION AND APPLICATION Preparing the surfaces Remove any loose parts (fouling, bleeding, etc.) and clean all traces of dust, dirt, paint, form oil and any other material that could compromise the adhesion of BI MORTAR RASO SEAL; restore missing parts of the surface by applying special Volteco repair mortars. High-pressure clean the surface until it is soaked and remove excess water before applying the product. Seal any localised water flows with TAP 3/I-PLUG rapid-setting hydraulic mortar. With brick or mixed material surfaces, preventively apply BI MORTAR CONCRETE SEAL to reinforce waterproofing and at the same time provide the base with a uniform degree of absorbency. Preparation of elements of discontinuity on the surfaces (positive hydrostatic pressure) • CONSTRUCTION JOINTS Connect the construction joints between the bed and the vertical wall by forming a 3x3 cm fillet with SPIDY 15 rapid-setting mortar • PASSING BODIES Seal all the passing bodies, including spacers and pipes, with AKTI-VO 201 mastic (see related technical data sheet) • JOINTS, CRACKS AND EDGES Connect all joints, significant cracks with GARVO or BI FLEX joint cover strip, as well as the horizontal and vertical edges (including where the fillet is) if WT 102 bentonite waterstop has not been used Contact the Volteco Technical Service before intervening on the expansion joints.
