NON CONFORMIST 1926 Eileen Gray (1878 - 1976) The Irish artist's life spans almost an entire century, but her name will always be linked with the birth of modern design. Eileen Gray was one of the pioneers. She was the only woman in the circle of the brilliant new designers Mies van der Rohe, Le Courbisier and Marcel Breuer.
