ROANO ZINC ™

Product catalog summary
Introduction to Roano Zinc
The document discusses the Roano Zinc, a durable and stable patina on zinc, used in architectural applications. It highlights the intersection of art and architecture, exemplified by the Taubman Museum designed by Randall Stout Architects.

Durability and Stability
The Roano Zinc surface patina is highly stable, resistant to rubbing off, staining, or erosion. It is a mineralized compound embedded in the zinc sheet metal, developed in a controlled environment at Zahner's Dallas Production Facility.

Environmental Compliance
Zahner produces patinas on lead-free zinc, copper, and weathering steel in an EPA-certified facility, adhering to strict waste management standards. The company is committed to minimizing environmental impact.

Material Characteristics
Roano Zinc is a lead-free preweathered zinc with a custom patina, designed to age gracefully. It offers a sophisticated look suitable for both contemporary and historic aesthetics.

Patina vs. Paint
Patina is a mineralized oxide on metal, providing a protective barrier, unlike paint. It is self-limiting and reacts to elements to protect the metal surface.

Longevity
Roano Zinc provides a protective coating on a durable material. Properly installed zinc systems can last up to 100 years. In Europe, zinc roofs and systems are known for their longevity and high recovery rates.

Applications
Roano Zinc is suitable for both exterior and interior applications, resisting fingerprints and scratches, making it ideal for pedestrian environments.

ROANO ZINC ™-3

Patina vs. Paint Surface patina should not be confused with paint. Patina is a mineralized oxide on metal that is self-limiting (rust, for instance, is not self-limiting because it will continue to eat through a surface). It is a reaction to the elements that in turn provides a protective barrier from the elements. Designed to Last Roano Zinc surface patina provides a protective coating on a material which is already highly rated for its durability. When properly installed, a zinc roof or wall system can last up to 100 years. In Europe, where zinc use is most prevalent, roofs, gutters and railings...
