IRA DAVENPORT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL - Bath, New York - 1

PROJECT CASE HISTORY IRA DAVENPORT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Bath, New York Client Project Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital wanted to relocate its rehabilitation department to a newly constructed building adjacent to the main hospital facility. By providing a new free standing rehabilitation building, Ira Davenport could differentiate its program from neighboring hospitals and make room for much needed inpatient expansion within the hospital. Client Need The hospital needed construction of the new facility completed in a timely manner to avoid referring patients to alternate physical therapy clinics outside the area and more importantly, have a minimal impact on the overall revenue production and operations of the hospital. Also, the structure had to fully comply with both state and New York Department of Health buildings codes, and aesthetically blend in with existing facilities located in this rural area. Since the site was located in a rural remote area, and cost efficiency was vital, conventional construction timeline posed a grave concern in accommodating the hospital’s needs. Therefore, Williams Scotsman’s modular Concurrent Construction™ process became the ideal solution.

The Williams Scotsman Solution A free-standing rehabilitation department was constructed using eight 12’ x 50’ modules. In order to blend in with existing facilities, and also serve as the IRA DAVENPORT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL focal point of the hospital complex, the modular building exterior included a 4” brick facade and a 4’ high mansard roof. The mansard roof acted both as an equipment screen and cover for the walkway that went from the employee entrance to the main entrance of the building. In addition, an exterior glass vestibule was utilized and served as a windbreak. MODULAR PROJECT...
