FBI Academy QUANTICO, VIRGINIA PROJECT FACTS SOLUTION TYPE: Instructional SCOPE OF PROJECT: 8,500 square feet TIME TO OCCUPANCY: 6 weeks The Story Located on 385 wooded acres of the United States Marine Corps base at Quantico, VA, the FBI Academy provides a secure and safe environment for the bureau’s diverse training and operating functions. Originally opened in 1972, the main training complex encompasses a variety of facilities from forensics to a gymnasium to a mock city replicating a typical small town. Continuing growth necessitated additional facilities. We had previous onsite experience, presented a detailed proposal, and offered a flexible and quality solutions. Based on these facts, we were called in to solve the case. The Academy needed a home for the training instructors/activities of its elite Hostage Rescue Team. Unique design and construction techniques would come into play to accommodate the equipment and security requirements specific to this team. It also had to blend in with the rustic landscape and be relocatable at a future date.
