Association FOBA is a Kyoto-based practice founded in 1995 by Katsu Umebayashi (b.1963), Ranging from furniture to landscape projects, the majority of their work comprises inventive residential design. FOBA's style is sculptural in its forms and complex in its spaces, but always emerges from close reading of the local context and a deep understanding of Japan's cultural history.
