Warli is a collaboration between a Northern Indian craftsmen's cooperative and Western designer Paolo Zani, initiated in 1992. The project focuses on creating contemporary carpets that merge traditional craftsmanship with modern design, using high-quality materials and integrating cultural elements from the production regions.
Warli's design philosophy involves reinterpreting Western, ethnic, and 'poor' design elements to create visually and tactilely appealing surfaces. The brand values imperfection and transience, maintaining a contemporary aesthetic while respecting cultural heritage.
Between 1997 and 2002, Warli carpets were distributed exclusively through Moroso's 'home' catalogue. A 'contract' section was developed for custom-made carpets globally, including for Max Mara stores.
The catalogue includes various carpet types such as hand-knotted, hand-tufted, dhurries, and plaited designs, each described with specific materials, thickness, and weight. High-quality fibers like Tibetan wool, New Zealand wool, and viscose are highlighted.
Designed by Paolo Zani, the 'Plein Sud' collection offers carpets for residential and outdoor use, combining comfort, elegance, and durability. These carpets use synthetic fibers suitable for outdoor environments, characterized by UV stability, water repellency, and resistance to stains and mold. Customization options are available through consultation with the technical department.
Warli represents a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, offering high-quality, culturally respectful products that cater to both aesthetic and functional needs.

- Handknotted Carpets: Made using a manual knotting technique with materials like New Zealand wool, viscose, and wool blends. Thickness varies from 10 to 15 mm, with weights around 4 to 5 kg/sqm. Available in sizes like 200 x 300 cm.
- Hand Tufted Carpets: Made from 100% wool, with a thickness of 25 mm and weight of 4.5 kg/sqm. Sizes include 200 x 300 cm.
- Dhurrie Carpets: A flat weave technique using undyed New Zealand wool and viscose, with a thickness of 6-15 mm and weight of 3.1 kg/sqm. Sizes include 200 x 300 cm.
- Hand Knotting: A manual method where wool is attached to the warp by knots, allowing for complex designs and a high number of knots per square meter.
- Hand Tufting: Involves wrapping pile yarn around cotton warp threads, using a needle to inject and cut the yarn into a woven base, secured with natural latex and cotton canvas backing.
- Dhurrie Weaving: A flat weave technique without knots, using additional threads for patterns, backed with latex and cotton canvas.
- Materials: Synthetic yarn, New Zealand wool, viscose, bleached hemp, bamboo silk, and undyed cactus.
- Colors: Various combinations including natural beige, greygreen, violet, lightbluegrey, lilac, ecru, greybrown, and greenyellow.

- Handwoven 'dhurrie' carpets made from 100% jute with a thickness of 10 mm and weight of 2.7 kg/sqm. Available in sizes 200x200, 170x240, and 200x300 cm.
- Hand-knotted hi-low pile dhurrie carpets using undyed New Zealand wool and viscose with cotton backing. Thickness ranges from 6-15 mm and weight is 3.1 kg/sqm.
- Handwoven carpets made from 100% wool felt with cotton backing, thickness of 12 mm, and weight of 2.5 kg/sqm.
- Handwoven synthetic yarn carpets, UV resistant, with a thickness of 8 mm and weight of 3 kg/sqm, suitable for outdoor use.
Carpets are made using virgin wool, viscose, and natural fibers like hemp and cactus without chemical treatments. Eco-friendly dyes and natural latex are used. Production is carried out in India and Nepal, focusing on ethical practices and supporting local communities. Warli is part of the 'Kaleen' project and 'Care&Fair' initiative to combat child labor.
Various color combinations are available, including greybrown, dark grey, ecru, and more. Patterns are inspired by traditional weaving techniques, resulting in contemporary designs.
Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with specific designs for barefoot-friendly experiences. Regular vacuuming is recommended to maintain the carpet's appearance and longevity. Carpets should not be exposed to direct sunlight to prevent color fading.
The creation process involves extensive manual labor, from selecting materials to final finishing. Carpets undergo multiple quality checks, including washing and shearing, to ensure high standards.
