WATERPROOF MORTARS/RAPID-SETTING MORTARS BARRIER PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Waterproofing coating, in both negative and positive hydrostatic pressure, for closed or very damp rooms. PRODUCT APPLICATION • Tanks, pools, channels, foundation walls, cellars and elevator pits that are not affected by movement and/or settling of the treated structures • Usable with negative and positive hydrostatic pressure • Suitable for both indoor and outdoor application • Excellent impermeability performance • High protection against the aggression of agents in the soil • Easy and quick application Preparing the surfaces Verify the structure suitability for the hydrostatic loads; if intended to contain water, perform a preload test. Clean all traces of form oil or grease and remove any loose parts (fouling). High-pressure clean the surface until it is soaked and remove excess water before applying the product. Repair the surface with suitable Volteco mortar if the surfaces are very uneven or in the case of mixed masonry. Seal the construction joints, any evident cracks and accessories with AKTI-VO 201 mastic. Remove the spacers and fill the cavities with SPIDY 15 rapid-setting mortar. Seal any localised water flows with TAP 3 rapid-setting hydraulic mortar. Contact the Volteco Technical Service before intervening on the expansion joints. Preparing the mixture BARRIER is ready to use; pour the mixing water into a container (approx. 7 l per bag equivalent to 28% in weight) and slowly add the powder, mixing it with a drill-mixer for about 3 minutes, until a fluid and smooth mixture is obtained. Application Apply BARRIER to the wet surface.

WATERPROOF MORTARS/RAPID-SETTING MORTARS BARRIER With highly absorbent substrates, keep the surface wet until BARRIER is applied. Apply BARRIER in two coats using the special Volteco brush. The first coat must cover every irregularity evenly and fill the superficial pores. BARRIER must be applied by moving the brush in a rotating movement. The second layer, which will be applied after 12-24 hours after the first, must level the waterproof coating.
