Wire Chair Charles & Ray Eames, 1951 Designed by Charles and Ray Eames out of welded steel wire with a chrome nish, the Wire Chair is a variation on the theme of the organically shaped one-piece seat shell, combining transparent lightness with technological sophistication. The seat shell can be joined with a variety of dierent bases. In addition, the Wire Chair is available without upholstery, with a seat cushion or with seat and back cushions. Due to the shape of the latter, this is also known as the ‚Bikini‘ pad. The Wire Chairs are available with a dark powder-coated nish or, depending on the model, in a chrome-plated version. The maple wood base gives the Wire Chair a warm, home-like touch. It is available in various wood tones. Materials ∏ Upholstery: unupholstered, with seat pad or with seat-and-back pad.
