Alcove Plume Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2013 Alcove Plume A sofa can go beyond being a mere piece of furniture to become a room within a room. This was the idea that inspired Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in their design of the Alcove Sofa. With its comfortable seat and backrest upholstery and the high, exible side and back panels, the Alcove Sofa creates a sheltered niche of privacy, a place of retreat. The Alcove family features a variety of dierent sofa models for use in home interiors as well as oce environments. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have added Alcove Plume, a low-slung sofa with an emphasis on casual comfort, to the Alcove product family. The thick, plush look of the seat cushions is matched by their superlative comfort. Though softly padded, they provide adequate support so that sitters do not sink in too deeply. Combined with the quilted side and back panels – a hallmark feature of the entire Alcove family – and the pointed loose cushions, they create a cosy and relaxing nest. Alcove Plume oers an inviting place to lift up your feet and curl up in its soft upholstery. Materials ∏ Structural frame: powder-coated steel, no external tubular frame. ∏ Back and side panels: integrated MDF panel for structural support; panel elements connected by zip fasteners. ∏ Seat upholstery: several layers of PU foam with chamber cushion overlay. (Chamber cushion overlay: lled with polyurethane rods and feathers.) The seat cushions can be individually removed and the fabric seat covers are removable. ∏ Back and arm cushions: lled with feathers and bres. ∏ Neck cushion: lled with half down.
