EM Table Jean Prouvé, 1950 The solid wood table tops in oak or walnut lend the EM Table an aura of elegance and bring pleasure with their appealing tactile qualities. The designer and engineer Jean Prouvé developed the EM Table around 1950 for the project ‚Maison Tropicale‘. Adhering to the aesthetics of necessity, even the details of this table are determined by its construction. The canted legs are connected by a crossbar, illustrating the structural forces and ow of stresses in a way that is typically seen only in engineering structures. Materials ∏ Table top in solid wood with oiled nish: natural oak, core smoked oak or American walnut. ∏ Base: bent sheet steel and tubular steel, The base of the EM Table version with a high-pressure laminate top is available in the same colours and powder-coated textured nish as the base of the Standard SP chair – making an ideal chairand-table combination. The EM Table is available with table tops in solid wood or robust HPL laminate. powder-coated. ∏ Table tops in HPL: high-pressure laminate surface and edge, matched to the colours of the Standard SP chair base. ∏ Base: bent sheet steel and tubular steel, powder-coated.
