Villa Lagoon Tile's Breeze Blocks are a modern take on mid-century architecture, termed "Breeze Blocks 2.0." These blocks are crafted using finer sand aggregates and hydraulic presses, resulting in thinner, smoother, and more appealing products compared to traditional blocks.
- 8” Concrete Breeze Blocks: Shown in natural white, with dimensions of 190x190x65 mm, weighing 6.50 - 7.50 lbs each, and covering 2.3 pieces per square foot.
- 12” Concrete Breeze Blocks: Shown in natural white, with structural grooves, weighing 9.0 lbs each, and covering 3.2 pieces per square foot.
- Special Shapes: Various dimensions and weights, including triangles and rectangles, designed for specific architectural needs.
Breeze Blocks are decorative and not intended for load-bearing walls. Wall spans should not exceed 3 meters, and structural supports like pilasters or steel beams are necessary for longer walls. Lintel beams are required for walls over 2.5 meters in height. Installation should comply with local building codes and be planned by professionals.
- Foundation: Ensure a clean, level, and suitable foundation for mortar installation.
- Mortar Selection: Use conventional cementitious mortar, ensuring it meets ASTM requirements. The mortar layer should be around 2 inches thick.
- Hydration: Cement requires water to cure, with most strength achieved in the first 28 days. Blocks should be submerged in water before setting, and the installation should be watered frequently for 7 days.
- Installation Method: Use standard masonry techniques, starting at corners and using appropriate grout joints. Insert steel reinforcement every third course for 7.5” blocks.
- Post-Installation: Maintain hydration for 7 days and wait about 30 days before applying finishes.
Breeze Block installation is not a DIY project and should be executed by professional masons under the supervision of a licensed contractor. Larger projects require planning by a structural engineer, and local building codes take precedence over the document's recommendations.
