Check with your local Vestas contact for more information. How do you boost your business case in cold climate? Cold climates can often mean icy conditions. Ice build-up on your blades can have a negative impact on your power curve whether you de-ice or not. The Vestas De-icing System (VDS) offers full control and transparency, through a tailored de-icing strategy. VDS is an active de-icing solution consisting of an ice detection system based on your power curve and a hot air flow unit within the blades. The Vestas De-Icing System is fully SCADA integrated. Based on your tailored de-icing strategy, the system can be triggered automatically or manually. Automatic control protects your investment by using a specific algorithm to detect power curve degradation, optimizing the trigger point when the de-icing system is activated. This trigger point is the energy break-even point, where the production loss after de-icing can be regained within a few hours. Under automatic control, the turbine will stop to de-ice only when there is an expected net power production gain after de-icing. Triggering when it matters.
