Surface Preparation Read the Lead Warning in Cautions section. For New or Bare Surfaces: New wallboard and plaster should be fully cured and clean. Remove all sanding dust. New walls must be primed with an interior PVA primer. For Previously Painted Surfaces: All surfaces should be clean, dry and free of peeling and chipping paint. Patch any cracks; sand lightly and remove all sanding dust. Do not apply Sandstone over glossy surfaces. Dull all glossy surfaces with sandpaper or liquid gloss remover.
