valerie_objects is a new design label initiated by Axel Van Den Bossche, Frank Lambert and art director Veerle Wenes, combining their professional and personal tastes for all things good and beautiful. The newborn design label finds an appropriate audience for designers and their pieces. The Antwerp based label works with architects, artists and designers, translating signature works into tangible objects. Authentic thinking and creative minds are at the heart of the label.

Chris Kabel In 2011, Rotterdam-based designer Chris Kabel developed the hidden vases project for the Spanish The Plant Journal (now The Plant). This project started as a research on how to make a vase disappear, based on the way a chicken waterer works. “The flowers are placed around the water container, so it seems like they are growing directly from the plate,” Chris Kabel was born in Bloemendaal, the Netherlands, in 1975. He graduated in 2001 from the Design Academy Eindhoven. In 2002 he moved to Rotterdam where he started his design practice. He works with design labels, architects,...

D.D.Trans transforms everyday, household objects that are taken out of their context and enhances them with the inspiration he draws from strolling through do-it- yourself shops. For valerie_objects, the artist has designed a collection of small mirrors, based on the covers of paint pots. So nothing is what it seems when it comes to D.D.Trans. The name D.D.Trans is a pseudonym taken from a now defunct transport company. As the name says, the artist’s work is about transformation: dayto-day, often domestic objects are taken out of context and after a small alteration turned into works of...

Koichi Futatsumata The cutlery set by Japanese designer Koichi Futatsumata for valerie_objects combines a flat surface with an octagonal section. With this cutlery, the flat surfaces remain at the ends; the main part of the body is octagonal in shape. The set includes a knife, fork, tablespoon and a teaspoon, made from stainless steel. Japanese Koichi Futatsumata’s design activities range from interior, architecture, furniture to product design. He is the founder of CASE-REAL, a company for space design, and KOICHI FUTATSUMATA STUDIO, focusing on objects. His designs are included in the...

Maarten Baas Sketchy, nearly childlike shapes are present in many pieces by Dutch designer Maarten Baas. The knife, fork, tablespoon and teaspoon for valerie_objects seem to have gone directly from sketch to the factory. The irregular zigzag knife-edge, for example, is an ostensibly simple intervention, but it’s actually the most difficult part of production. The cutlery set is available in different versions. Maarten Baas is an independent Dutch designer, often described as an auteurdesigner, with objects somewhere between art and design. His work has been called rebellious, humorous,...

used hammer blow finishing paint. You often see this paint applied on mechanical equipment, machines or laboratory equipment. It’s textured (as if hammered ) and therefore ideal to cover up bumps in metal. It’s UV-resistant and water-repellent so all these pieces can be used outside.” valerie_objects_alu collection valerie_objects_alu collection Designer duo Muller Van Severen launches a collection in aluminum: the round table S, the alu chair, the stackable chair and the alu square. “We‘ve been intrigued with the different ways of colouring and treating the surfaces of the aluminum. valerie_objects_ ta tisch and joburg stool In 2009, Robbrecht en Daem architects had an exhibition at Bozar with scenographic furniture. The expo was travelling to London and Johannesburg, so the architects came up with folding tables and stools that make it easier for visitors to look at drawings, sketches and texts. “This is micro-architecture. A folding table is invisible, but it can be unpacked and used immediately. For valerie_objects, the ta tisch table and joburg stool are finished in dark polished massive wood and different coloured finishings. Robbrecht en Daem architecten was...
