LEED 3.0 Credits for ® Natural Cork Floors with Endura AR USFloors is a manufacturer quality surfacing materials composed of environmentally correct sustainable resources. Materials & Resources MR Credit 4.4 Recycled Content Intent: Increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing the impact resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials. Requirement: Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus ½ of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% or 20%, based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project. Contribution: Natural Cork Parquet tile contains 95% pre-consumer material. Natural Cork Floating Floor plank contains 65% pre-consumer content. MR Credit 6.0 Rapidly Renewable Material Intent: Reduce the use and depletion of finite raw and long-cycle renewable materials by replacing them with rapidly renewable materials. Requirement: Use rapidly renewable building materials and products for 2.5% of the total value of all building materials and products used in the project, based on cost. Rapidly renewable building materials and products are made from plants that are typically harvested within a 10-year or shorter cycle. Contribution: Cork bark is harvested from managed Cork Oak tree farms every 9 - 11 years without harm to the trees. Indoor Environmental Quality EQ Credit 4.3 Low-Emitting Materials: Flooring Systems Intent: Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants. Requirement: Cork floor finishes such as sealer, stain and finish must meet the requirements of South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule 1113, Architectural Coatings, rules in effect on Jan 1, 2004, or be certified as compliant with the GREENGUARD standard by an independent third-party. Contribution: Natural Cork Floating Floors with Endura AR® finish are third-party certified: GREENGUARD GOLD for Indoor Air Quality.
