SCHOOLAIR-V

Product catalog summary
Description
Decentralised ventilation units, SCHOOLAIR-V, are designed for energy-efficient ventilation in classrooms, daycare facilities, and office buildings. They provide conditioned fresh air and discharge exhaust air, making them suitable for refurbishment projects due to their compact design.
Functional Description
SCHOOLAIR-V units maintain high air quality by supplying fresh air and extracting stale air. They feature energy-efficient fans, heat recovery, and optional heating/cooling via a heat exchanger, capable of heating supply air up to 40°C without a static heating system.
Construction and Dimensions
Designed for vertical installation near windows, these units have a fresh air flow rate of 42 to 70 l/s. They include heat recovery with a bypass and are available in 2-pipe or 4-pipe systems, with a compact design and effective insulation, operating at a maximum pressure of 6 bar.
Outer Casing
Units can be installed with or without a factory-made outer casing made of galvanized sheet steel, with options for linear grilles or perforated face plates.
Operation and Control
The SCHOOLAIR control system offers individual room control with a control panel, temperature sensors, and actuators. Operating modes include stand-by, morning warm-up, class, unoccupied, boost, and night cooling. The system integrates with a centralised BMS using BACnet protocol.
Installation
Installation requires trained personnel and compliance with legal regulations. Units are mounted on external walls, with specific openings for fresh and exhaust air connections. Water and electrical connections are facilitated by flexible hoses and accessible panels.
Technical Data
The units can heat supply air up to 40°C, covering ventilation and façade heat loss. Fresh air volume flow rates range from 42 to 69 l/s, with maximum heating capacities between 2760 and 4560 W.
Specifications
Heat loss for room heating ranges from 736 W to 1194 W. Fresh air temperature is consistently -12°C. Maximum supply air temperature varies between 36.3°C and 37.1°C. Warm water flow rate options are 70, 100, and 130 l/h. Hot water flow temperature for heating is 60°C, with return temperatures between 25.6°C and 29.3°C. Pressure differential for water is less than 8 kPa. Sound power levels range from 35 to 42 dB(A), with sound pressure levels from 27 to 34 dB(A) with room attenuation. Boost level fresh air volume flow rate is 89 l/s or 320 m³/h, with sound power level at 48 dB(A) and sound pressure level at 40 dB(A).
Electrical Data
Supply voltage is 230 V AC ±10%, 50/60 Hz. Power rating for boost is 45 W, and medium fan speed is 17 W. Overall rating is 156 VA.
Heating Capacity
Below -6°C, heat recovery is inactive to prevent freezing, relying on the hot-water heating system. Above -6°C, heat recovery is active, transferring heat from extract air to fresh air with 55% efficiency. Example scenario: Fresh air flow rate of 42 l/s, fresh air temperature of -5°C, room temperature of 22°C, supply air temperature of 35°C, heating capacity of 2000 W, and heat recovery capacity of 743 W.
Ventilation Unit Options
Heat exchangers are available for 2-pipe and 4-pipe systems. The individual room control system includes a controller, control panel, valves, sensors, and room air quality sensor. Operating modes include class, unoccupied, boost, stand-by, morning warm-up, and night cooling. Outer casing options include linear grilles or perforated sheet metal face plates.
Materials
Casing made of galvanized sheet steel with options for powder-coated finishes. Heat exchanger components include copper tubes and aluminum fins. Lining is mineral wool, fire-rated class A2, faced with fiberglass.
Special Characteristics
Economical operation with demand-based fresh air flow rate. Energy-efficient EC radial fans compliant with EN 13779, Class SFP 1. Ventilation with four fan speeds and recuperative heat recovery with cross flow heat exchanger. F7 fine dust filter in supply air and coarse dust filter in extract air. Shut-off dampers prevent uncontrolled air flow. Compact design with height-adjustable pedestals. Hygiene requirements conform to VDI 6022.
Order Details
Example order: Make TROX, Type SCHOOLAIR-V-4 / 2350 / M / V1W / P1 / RAL 9006. Order code includes type, heat exchanger system, dimensions, control options, encasing, and finish.

Functional description Heat exchanger SCHOOLAIR-V ventilation units maintain a high air quality in class rooms or offices by supplying conditioned fresh air to the room and extracting stale air. The thermal loads of the room are dealt with by the heat exchanger for heating and, if chilled water is available, for cooling. In the heat exchanger, the temperature of the air rises to approx. 22 °C (static heating system exists), or with adequate hot water flow temperature to approx. 40 °C, to cover the façade heat loss (normally no static heating system necessary). The supply air fan provides fresh...

Technical data Electrical data Supply voltage: Power rating: Boost: 45 W Medium fan speed (55 l/s / 200 m³/h): 17 W Rating: 156 VA Heating capacity With outside temperatures below −6 °C the heat recovery is not active, to avoid freezing in the heat exchanger. The maximum heating capacity is in this case provided by the heat exchanger of the hot-water heating system. Above −6 °C outside temperature the heat recovery is active and a portion of heat in the extract air is transferred to the fresh air. Hence the heating capacity provided by the hot-water heating system is reduced. The efficiency of...
