Il mosaico d’oro La possibilità di far aderire al vetro delle sottili foglie metalliche d'oro fu scoperta in epoca romana. L'esteso impiego di tessere musive di questo tipo per i fondi d'oro risale al IV secolo d.C. prima in Spagna e Grecia e poi in tutta l'area del Mediterraneo.
