Product catalog summary
Product Overview
SP525 is a low modulus sealant and adhesive utilizing advanced SP polymer technology. It offers high movement capability, excellent primerless adhesion to various substrates, and long-term performance. Available in multiple colors, it is packaged in 600 ml sausages.
Usage and Benefits
SP525 is ideal for sealing joints in façades, rainscreens, curtain walls, and perimeter joints around windows and doors. It enhances acoustic performance, providing up to 61 dB sound reduction. Key benefits include compliance with EN ISO 11600 F 25LM, high movement, rapid curing, low risk of staining, and excellent resistance to weathering and UV.
Technical Specifications
  • Composition: Advanced SP polymer formulation
  • Fire Classification: EN13501-1 Class E
  • Specific Gravity: 1.6
  • Shore A Hardness: 25
  • Skin Forming Time: ~30 minutes at +23°C, 50% RH
  • Cure Rate: 3 mm/first day at +23°C, 50% RH
  • Tensile Strength: ~0.7 N/mm²
  • Elongation at Break: ~550%
  • Maximum Movement Capacity: 25%
  • Acoustic Insulation: 61 dB in a 10 mm wide joint
Application Guidelines
SP525 should be applied between +5°C and +40°C using a sausage application gun. Surfaces must be clean, stable, and dry. For non-porous substrates, use cleaner AT200. Joint design should follow BS 6093 standards, with a typical width to depth ratio of 2:1.
Adhesion and Priming
SP525 offers excellent primerless adhesion to many construction materials. However, some substrates may require a primer. An adhesion table is provided for reference, and technical support is available for special situations.
Coverage
Coverage varies based on joint dimensions. For example, a 600 ml sausage covers 16.7 linear meters for a 6x6 mm joint.
Cleaning and Safety
Excess sealant should be removed immediately with AT200 Cleaner. Cured sealant requires mechanical removal. Safety data sheets must be read before use, and protective equipment is recommended during handling.
Limitations
SP525 is not suitable for bonding to polyethylene, silicone, butyl rubber, neoprene, or EPDM, nor for areas permanently immersed in water. Compatibility testing with third-party materials is advised.
Technical Support and Warranty
tremco illbruck offers technical support for product selection and specification. Products applied according to instructions and found defective will be replaced free of charge.
