For full recommendation, refer to safety data sheet. Preparation • The substrate surface must be dry, degreased, and free of dust and loose particles which could negatively affect adhesion. • It is recommended to degrease the membrane and substrate if necessary by using AW421 Cleaner. Application • The adhesive is ideally applied in beads of around 10 mm in diameter onto one of the surfaces to be bonded (see Fig.). • Use a seam roller to consolidate the bond by pressing the membrane to achieve a bonded area of approx. 30 - 35 mm x 2 mm thickness. • In the case of wider or longer membrane strips, the membrane might require temporary fixing e.g. using a bonding tape, until a sufficient adhesive loading capacity is achieved. Please Note Connections of membranes to PVC hydro insulation membranes should be made with a transition metal sheet part. The adhesive is not compatible with materials that have a high plasticizer content but is often suitable to bond to substrates which are not suitable for bonding illbruck OT015 to. We provide a service for testing compatibility of our adhesives with 3rd party materials and would advise that our representative is made aware of this requirement in order to organise appropriate samples and to instigate the required testing (comprehensive testing takes up to 4 weeks). Paste Adhesive Usage / Purpose illbruck OT008 Paste Adhesive is a special adhesive particularly suited for bonding illbruck ME220 & ME501 membrane onto porous substrates such as styrene foam (incl. EPS), varnished wood, etc. It is also suitable for bonding membrane to membrane or between membrane and non-porous materials such as aluminium, metal, zinc plated metal, bitumen, butyl etc., however, a significantly slower curing time must be taken into account compared to illbruck OT015 Paste Adhesive. The connection produced provides excellent resistance to ageing, temperature changes and is waterproof. Key Benefits • Compatible with styrene and PUR boards • Fast and easy application • Excellent joint strength • Excellent resistance to ageing • Good resistance to temperature changes and water
