Vapour Barrier Application • ME003 should be installed in accordance with the recommendations of BS5250: 2002 'Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings'. The vapour barrier should be of the appropriate vapour resistance and should be situated on the warm side of the insulation. • Apply ME003 from the roll, fixing each sheet with staples or OT301 Endurance Adhesive to the structure. It is beneficial to reduce the number of junctions where possible to maximise performance. • Membrane overlap of not less than 50 mm is recommended. • All staples and overlaps must be sealed using illbruck ME315, ME316 or ME317 air-tight sealing tapes. • For bonding the membrane to adjacent walls and floors use illbruck OT301 and illbruck tape to achieve a long lasting airtight and vapour-tight connection. • Small damages in the membrane can be sealed with illbruck tapes. A large-area of damage can be repaired with a pre-cut part of the original membrane and OT301 or illbruck tapes. • Likewise penetrations can be sealed with the above sealing tapes or SP925 Airseal. Usage / Purpose This innovative 3-ply co-extruded PE vapour barrier membrane meets virtually all the demands of professional practice and protects the construction and insulation by providing a vapour and airtight seal. High-grade granulates are used as its main constituents, which does not lower the sd-value (vapour diffusion-equivalent air layer thickness). Consequently, this high-grade product offers comparable diffusion resistance properties to typical 160 pm PE vapour barriers, despite its lower thickness.
