Metal Mesh Blankets

Metal Mesh Blankets

Product catalog summary
Product Overview:
Thermafiber® Industrial Insulation Metal Mesh Blankets are designed for high-temperature applications, offering excellent thermal performance and non-combustible properties. These flexible insulation blankets are ideal for cylindrical surfaces such as boilers, tanks, and ducts, and are available with galvanized or stainless steel wire mesh for durability.
Specifications:
Metal Mesh Blankets are available in two types: Metal Mesh 60 and Metal Mesh 80, with thicknesses ranging from 1" to 4" (25mm to 100mm) and widths of 24" (610mm). Lengths include 48", 96", and 120" (1.2m, 2.4m, 3.05m), and they can be palletized or rolled. Custom sizes are available upon request.
Thermal Conductivity:
Tested to ASTM C 177, the thermal conductivity varies with temperature. For Metal Mesh 60, the k-factor ranges from 0.24 (0.035 W/mK) at 75°F (30°C) to 0.56 (0.081 W/mK) at 500°F (260°C). Metal Mesh 80 has a k-factor from 0.24 (0.035 W/mK) at 75°F (30°C) to 0.73 (0.105 W/mK) at 700°F (371°C).
Installation:
Metal Mesh Blankets should be mechanically fastened to hot surfaces using metal angles, welded insulation pins, or metal banding. For flat surfaces, blankets can be impaled over insulation pins. Adjacent blankets should be laced together with 16-ga. galvanized wire to maintain tight joints.
Standards Compliance:
The product complies with several standards, including ASTM E 136, ASTM C 592, ASTM C 612, and ASTM C 795. It is rated non-combustible per NFPA Standard 220 and meets federal specifications.
Acoustical Performance:
According to ASTM C 423, the acoustical performance varies with thickness and frequency. For example, Metal Mesh 60 with a 2" thickness has an NRC of 1.00, while a 4" thickness has an NRC of 1.10.
Maximum Service Temperature:
Both Metal Mesh 60 and Metal Mesh 80 are tested to withstand temperatures up to 1200°F (649°C) with a flame spread and smoke developed rating of 0.
