FireLite

Product catalog summary
Product Overview: FireLite is a 3/16" (5 mm) thick fire-rated glazing material designed for non-impact safety-rated locations such as transoms and borrowed lites. It features ultraHD® Technology for enhanced surface quality, clarity, and color. The product is fire-rated for up to 90 minutes and has passed the required hose stream test.
Features: FireLite is a clear, wireless glass ceramic available in two surface grades: Premium and Standard. It fits in Fireframes® Designer Series frames from TGP or standard fire-rated frames and withstands thermal shock. The glass can be lightly sandblasted or etched on one side without affecting its fire rating and may be insulated.
Surface Grades: The Standard Grade is polished for a surface quality comparable to other fire-rated ceramics marketed as premium. The Premium Grade is ground and polished on both surfaces for superior surface quality and clarity.
Listings and Standards: FireLite is classified and labeled by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.® and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada. It complies with various standards including UL 9, NFPA 80, CAN4 S-104, and others. However, it is not a barrier to radiant heat and does not meet ASTM E119 or UL 263 standards.
Limitations: FireLite is not an impact safety-rated product. For fire and impact safety ratings, TGP offers FireLite Plus® and FireLite® NT.
Specifications: The maximum exposed area for 20 to 60-minute ratings is 3,325 in² (23.09 ft²), and for 90-minute ratings, it is 2,627 in² (18.24 ft²). The maximum width and height for exposed glazing are 95" (2,413 mm) and 56-1/2" (1,435 mm) respectively.
General Characteristics: FireLite has a thickness of 3/16” (5 mm) and a weight of 2.56 lb/ft² (12.5 kg/m²). It offers approximately 88% visible transmission and 9% visible reflection, with a hardness of 700 on the Vicker’s scale. It has an STC rating of 35.
Labeling and Handling: Each piece is permanently labeled with the FireLite and UL logos and fire rating. It must be handled with care during transportation, storage, inspection, and installation. Store in a dry place and inspect for edge damage or face imperfections before installation.
Installation: FireLite should be glazed into appropriate fire-rated framing with approved glazing compounds. For 90-minute ratings exceeding 1,393 in², fire-rated glazing tape is required.
Family of Products: TGP offers a complete range of fire-rated glazing products for applications from 20 minutes to 3 hours. More information is available at fireglass.com.
