This intermixing causes a loss in bearing strength, as the stone layer becomes progressively contaminated, resulting in failure in the form of deformation. A combination of overlapping and sewing may be more economical where the subgrade strength is particularly low, or in other critical situations (see the ‘Jointing methods for TERRAM Geotextiles’ pdf document downloadable at www.terram.com). The grade of net dictates the composite’s flow capacity. The filter/net/filter composites are used for general area drainage and are easy-to-install, factory-assured replacements for tradition stone installations.
