Project Overview
The installation of the TENAX Anti-ball Plugging Mesh at Staplehurst Golf Centre aimed to address the issue of golf balls becoming plugged in wet conditions, which hindered efficient collection and resulted in significant ball loss.
Problem Statement
During wet weather, the ball-collecting equipment failed to retrieve plugged balls, necessitating costly and time-consuming manual collection.
Solution Description
The TENAX Anti-ball Plugging Mesh, made from UV-stabilized high-density polyethylene, was installed over a 125m by 100m area. The mesh was secured with plastic pegs, allowing grass to grow through and stabilize the surface, facilitating easier ball collection and preventing ground rutting.
Technical Specifications
  • Product No: 61621308
  • Dimensions: 2m width, 30m length
  • Mesh Size: 27mm x 27mm
  • Weight: 450g/m²
  • Tensile Strength: 3.5kN/m
  • Roll Weight: 27kg
Conclusions
The mesh installation proved successful in preventing ball plugging and reinforcing the ground, leading to more efficient ball collection and reduced maintenance costs. The mesh also supported the weight of ball-collecting equipment without damaging the grass.
Additional Applications
The TENAX mesh can also be used for stabilizing walkways, buggy paths, and reinforcing grassed areas for overspill parking. TENAX offers a Ball-Stop Net that prevents ice formation, unlike traditional nets.
Testimonial
Colin Jenkins, proprietor of Staplehurst Golf Centre, highlighted the mesh's effectiveness in improving ball collection efficiency and generating cost savings.

THE SOLUTION TENAX Anti-ball Plugging Mesh, an extruded and UV stabilised polymer grid, was installed in the area where most balls land – up to 125m from the tees and 100m wide. Supplied in rolls, the mesh was quickly installed using plastic securing pegs. CONCLUSIONS The Anti-ball Plugging Mesh was laid down in the Spring and the grass grew quickly through the mesh and formed a root mass around the filaments. After a matter of weeks, the mesh soon disappeared and the area rapidly regained its natural appearance providing a stable surface capable of withstanding the weight of the ball collecting...
