Tectona’s history Before Tectona came into being in 1977, the French market for garden furniture was uninspiring and lacking in choice. The founders of Tectona judiciously looked for inspiration across the Channel — the British were already masters in the field of garden furniture — and were driven by a deep desire to invent the art of outdoor living à la française. Since the first design collaboration in 1992 with Andrée Putman, inspiration has always gone hand in hand with comfort, construction quality and durability. The materials we use require genuine craftsmanship, and this is why traditional woodworking techniques, such as mortise and tenon joints and hand polishing, are used in the construction of our furniture. This, along with regular and thorough quality controls for all our furniture, guarantees their longevity and their sublime aesthetics. Beautiful and durable materials Teak (Tectona grandis) is Tectona’s favourite material. The high oil content of this wood renders it naturally rot-proof. Over time, a beautiful silver patina develops on its surface, adding to its charm without modifying its properties....
