Product catalog summary
Product Overview: TECHTONIKO is a waterproofing mortar with osmotic action, primarily composed of high-strength cements, selected quartz charges, and specific additives. It is designed for counterthrusting waterproofing applications such as walls against the ground, lift wells, water tanks, cisterns, underpasses, foundation beds, and swimming baths.
Specifications:
  • Appearance: Grey powder
  • Storage: 12 months in a dry place
  • Consumption: 1.4-1.5 kg/m2 per mm of thickness
  • Temperature during application: Minimum +5°C, Maximum +35°C
  • Compressive strength after 28 days: ≥ 30 N/mm2
  • Bond to concrete substrate: Approx. 0.6 N/mm2
Fields of Use: Suitable for waterproofing works holding water, such as ducts, tanks, or cisterns. Applicable on substrates like cast or precast concrete, high-strength cement-based plaster, and bonded cement-based screeds. Not suitable for gypsum, plasterboard, anhydrite screeds, wood, or surfaces treated with paints, lacquer, plastic coatings, or bitumen.
Application Procedure:
  • Mix with 25±1% clean water (6.5 liters per bag) until creamy and lump-free.
  • Apply by brush or trowel, ensuring the substrate is wet but without puddles.
  • First coat should be applied by brush for penetration; subsequent coats can be applied by brush or trowel after 2 hours.
  • Overall thickness should not exceed 4 mm.
Warnings and Recommendations:
  • Wet the substrate prior to application in high temperatures or windy conditions.
  • Do not apply to surfaces subject to flexural stress or to resolve condensation issues.
  • Do not mix with other materials or binders.
Technical Data:
  • Volume mass of mixture: Approx. 2.0-2.15 kg/l
  • Pot life of mixture: Approx. 45 minutes
  • Ready for use (positive pressure): 7 days
  • Resistance to negative hydrostatic pressure: No passage up to 250 kPa
  • Resistance to positive hydrostatic pressure: No passage after 7 days at 150 kPa
Final Performance: The mortar should be applied in two or three crossed coats, with a time interval of 2 hours between coats, ensuring a compressive strength of ≥ 30 N/mm2 after 28 days.

RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES OPERATIONS PRIOR TO APPLICATION Prior to treatment with TECHTONIKO, create a cove base in the corners of the room to be waterproofed using mortar conforming to class R3 of standard UNI EN 1504-3. If there are localized infiltrations of water, block the flow before applying TECHTONIKO, using very quick-setting mortar (approx. 30 sec.) after having widened the hole through which the water comes by 1-2 cm, to obtain an upturned cone shape. Read the relative brief for more details. HOW TO PREPARE THE MIXTURE TECHTONIKO can be applied by either brush or trowel. Blend product...
