kalox-pool

Product catalog summary
Main Features: Kalox-Pool is a two-component, waterproof cement-based mortar designed for protecting and finishing concrete, particularly in swimming pools. It offers high resistance to chlorinated water and can be pigmented for colored finishes.
Appearance and Storage: Component A is a white liquid, and Component B is a white powder. The product should be stored in a cool, dry place for up to 12 months.
Fields of Use: It is used for protecting concrete surfaces, providing a visually exposed finish for swimming pools, and protecting water works like tanks and pipes. It also serves as a flexible coating against deicing salts, freezing-thawing cycles, and water.
Substrates: Suitable for concrete, cement-based plaster, cement-lime mortar, and cement-based screeds.
Preparation and Application: The substrate must be clean and structurally sound. The mixture is prepared by blending components A and B with an electric blender. Application involves spreading the first layer with a serrated trowel, embedding fiberglass netting, and applying a second layer. The recommended thickness is 2 mm per coat, with a total of 4 mm for optimal waterproofing.
Warnings and Recommendations: Protect from rain and direct sunlight during application. Avoid using certain chemicals and ensure proper pH balance in swimming pools to prevent damage to the coating.
Technical Specifications: The product meets various standards, including EN 1504-2 for concrete protection. It has specific requirements for carbon dioxide permeability, water vapor permeability, and bond strength.
Cleaning: Tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use.
Manufacturer: Sika Italia S.p.A., with detailed contact information provided.

RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES HOW TO PREPARE THE SUBSTRATE The substrate must be structurally sound and free from all traces of contaminants, crumbling material, parts that are about to detach, efflorescence, oil, grease, etc. It must be sandblasted or cleaned by high-pressure water jet cleaner. Avoid cleaning methods that create impact or vibration. If the substrate is made of concrete, its “pull off” resistance must be > 1.5 N/mm². Concrete that is poorly resistant, damaged or with parts that are beginning to detach must be repaired with mortar such as GAP or GAP-R. If necessary, use mortar to plug...

WARNINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS -- protect from rain until at least 6 hours from application. -- avoid application and protect freshly applied material from: direct sunlight and/or strong wind, rain. -- subgrade must be statically sound and fitted with regular expansion joints to absorb all the expected structural displacements. -- use only products specifically designed for swimming pools, and follow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. -- if KALOX-POOL is used on rigid substrates, such as the protective coating on reinforced cement, it can be applied without fiberglass net between the two...
