he Tapco Abutment Ventilator (TABV) provides unobtrusive high-level ventilation and can be used in conjunction with traditional ‘lead roll’ details on slate and shake roofs. It is also particularly useful in top edge abutment situations where installation is limited due to vertical clearances. Specification clause Install the Tapco Abutment Ventilator under leadroll*/top edge abutment*/with/ without integral AluFlash flashing* to provide ventilation to the roofspace equivalent to 5000mm2/m in accordance with Building Regulations and BS 5250. Install continuously as shown on drawing and fix in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions *Delete as appropriate Lead roll ridge Code 4 or 5 lead or AluFlash Composition, Manufacture Manufactured from ABS. All exposed surfaces are treated with a uv-resistant polymeric resin. AluFlash apron flashing for dressing over the tiles can be used. A lead or AluFlash cover flashing (not supplied) must be installed with the Abutment Ventilator (as shown). Horizontal cavity trays with short lead or AluFlash cover flashing provide a complete solution in new build construction.
