Installation & Maintenance Instructions for ECODUR Multilayer Engineered Plank

General Guidelines:
The document outlines detailed instructions for installing and maintaining ECODUR multilayer engineered planks, stressing adherence to standards and manufacturer instructions for warranty and optimal results.

Pre-Installation Requirements:
Ensure the room is ready for living, inspect the product for damage, and acclimatize the sealed packages in a room with a standard climate of 20°C and 50% relative humidity for at least two days before opening.

Subfloor Preparation:
The subfloor must be even, clean, and dry. Suitable subfloors include cement, anhydrite screeds, and wood-based materials. Check for residual moisture and ensure compliance with ÖNORM standards. Heated screeds should not exceed a surface temperature of 28°C.

Installation Process:
  • Floating Installation: Use a Stöckl Universol Standard underlay mat. Maintain a subfloor temperature between 15°C and 28°C, and relative humidity between 45% and 65%. Plan the installation layout, considering expansion joints and room geometry. Maintain edge distances of 10-15 mm.
  • Full Surface Bonding: No PE-foil or insulating pad is required. Follow adhesive manufacturer guidelines strictly. Ensure the surface temperature does not exceed 28°C.

Special Considerations:
  • Underfloor Heating: Full-surface bonding is recommended. Ensure heating circuits are controlled at the same temperature.
  • Floor Cooling Systems: Not recommended due to lower cooling capacity. Ensure supply temperature is above 18°C to prevent condensation.
  • Wooden Substrates: Ensure wood moisture content does not exceed 12%. Avoid vapor barriers on wooden substrates.

Recommendations:
Use an electronic data logger for climate control. Ensure proper ventilation and drying times for subfloor treatments.

Cleaning and Maintenance of Wooden Surfaces:
For varnished surfaces, remove coarse dirt with a mop or vacuum cleaner and fine dust with lukewarm water. Use parquet cleaner for sealed floors to prevent graying. Avoid sharp or corrosive cleaners and excessive water. For oiled surfaces, dry clean with a vacuum cleaner and use a damp mop with wooden floor soap for stubborn dirt. Avoid microfiber cloths.

Maintenance Procedures:
Varnished surfaces require periodic maintenance with parquet care products. Oiled surfaces should be maintained with care oil, applied and polished with a cloth or machine. Allow drying for 6-8 hours with good ventilation.

Repair Guidelines:
For damaged floors, cut out the damaged element and replace it with a new one using D3 white adhesive. Ensure the replacement fits well and is weighed down until the adhesive sets.

Refinishing Recommendations for Stöckl ECODUR Flooring:
Use PALLMANN CLEAN diluted with water for cleaning, followed by sanding with PALLMANN SPIDER. Apply PALL-X 350 and PALL-X ZERO 2K for sealing, ensuring even application and proper drying times. Clean tools with water after use.

Room Comfort Climate:
Maintain a relative humidity of 45-65% and a room temperature of 18-22°C for optimal wood floor conditions. Avoid exceeding a wood floor surface temperature of 28°C.

Important Notes:
Use movement joint profiles in large or L-shaped areas to accommodate expansion. Avoid fixing the floating construction with heavy objects.

General Tips:
Use suitable castors for swivel chairs and attach felt glides to furniture to prevent scratches. Install dirt-stop mats in entrance areas. Consider using a humidifier during heating periods. Note that wood may change color over time due to sunlight exposure.

In addition to the moisture test, also observe the requirements for the flatness of the subfloor. According to ÖNORM DIN 18202 "Tolerances in building construction", these are a maximum deviation of 4 mm at an inside micrometer of 1 m. With a measuring point distance of e.g. 1 m, the subfloor is to be allowed a maximum allowance of 4 mm according to the standard. Measuring point distance Inside micrometer ATTENTION! – 3 mm for increased requirements. According to ÖNORM B 2218 "Installation of wooden floors" – the flatness tolerances according to ÖNORM DIN 18202 – table 3, line 4 "increased requirements"...

Old flooring ECODUR can be installed on most hard coverings. Level the joints of ceramic tiles with suitable leveling or filling compound according to manufacturer's specifications. Remove all textile and other soft coverings before laying ECODUR. Floor Installation Floating installation Start installation of the floor only after all craftsmen from other trades have left. Before installation, holes, cracks and other damage should be closed with suitable materials. It is recommended to open several packages at the same time and mix the planks by color and texture to achieve a uniform overall appearance....

Then install plank by plank according to the same scheme. The remaining piece of a row can be used as the beginning of the new row if it is at least 40 cm long. The face offset must also always be at least 40 cm. During the entire installation, the elements must be checked for material defects as well as color and structure deviations. Elements with visible material defects should not be installed. Installed elements with visible material defects are excluded from complaints! Cut the elements of the last row to size. Proceed as before when locking the end faces. You can achieve a permanent connection...

Cleaning and maintenance Cleaning varnished wooden surfaces Remove coarse dirt with a mop, hair broom or vacuum cleaner, fine dust with lukewarm water! For sealed floors (to avoid graying of the surface) please use parquet cleaner. Application instructions are indicated on the product and must be followed. Wring out the cloth firmly and clean your parquet floor with a damp cloth only. Heavy soiling, stains or rubber marks can usually be removed by "erasing". Room comfort climate The optimum combination, i.e. the right interplay between relative humidity and temperature is the key to a healthy room comfort climate! Depending on the season, a relative humidity of 45 – 65 % and a room temperature of 18 – 22° C are recommended. In addition, the wood floor surface temperature of max. 28° C should NOT be exceeded. At these values or conditions, the natural wood properties such as joints, cracks or cupping will occur to a minor extent. Wood is a natural material and changes its shape in case of longer deviation from these given values (especially humidity)....
