STAUF VEP 195

Product catalog summary
Product Overview: STAUF VEP 195 is a solvent and water-free 2-component epoxy primer designed for strengthening substrates, providing good penetration, and acting as a vapor barrier on surfaces with residual moisture.
Application Range: It is used as a damp proof membrane on cement screed subfloors with residual moisture, as a primer under various STAUF adhesives and levelling compounds, and for preparing anhydrous reactive resin screeds and mortars.
Suitable Subfloors: The primer is compatible with a variety of subfloors including mastic asphalt screed, concrete, wooden planks, chipboards, stone, ceramic, and more.
Product Properties: It offers good adhesion, is easy to apply, and reduces vapor diffusion on moist surfaces. It is colorless with a pot life of approximately 30-45 minutes depending on temperature.
Application Instructions: The subfloor must be prepared according to standards, ensuring it is clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Mixing involves combining components thoroughly and applying the primer within the processing time. A second coat may be applied for enhanced vapor barrier properties.
Processing: The primer should be applied with an appropriate applicator and sprinkled with dry quartz sand if used as a vapor barrier. Excess sand should be removed after drying, and adhesives can be applied directly to the primer within 24-72 hours.
Storage and Handling: Store in a dry, cool place with a shelf-life of 12 months. The product is classified under transport hazard category 9.
Limitations: The primer is not a substitute for sealing according to DIN 18533, and excessive building moisture can still cause damage. On-site testing is recommended to ensure suitability.

SUBFLOOR PREPARATION It must be ensured that the subfloor is ready for installation by performing proper subfloor preparation, floors must be clean, have sufficient surface strength, must be level, permanently dry and free of cracks. A mechanical pretreatment of the subfloor (sweeping, vacuuming, mechanical brushing, sanding, milling, shot blasting) must be performed depending on type and condition of subfloor. Cracks and joints, except expansion joints and other construction joints, shall be solidly closed with STAUF repair resin and floor brackets. Cavities and indentations can be filled with...
