Product catalog summary
Overview of Drivable Grass®
Drivable Grass® is a permeable, flexible, and plantable concrete pavement system designed for both residential and commercial applications. It consists of concrete 'muffins' connected by a grid system, allowing it to flex and conform to ground movements, promoting root penetration and moisture containment.

Residential Applications
  • Driveways
  • Pet digging control
  • RV & boat access/parking
  • Parking areas
  • Truck & car wash areas
  • Outdoor shower & drinking fountain runoff areas
  • Roof runoff erosion control
  • Courtyards/patios
  • Pathways
  • Trash can/storage shed pads

Environmental Benefits
Drivable Grass® helps in environmental conservation by allowing precipitation to infiltrate the soil, increasing on-site stormwater storage, and reducing runoff into oceans, rivers, and lakes.

Installation Process
  1. Plan and Prepare: Measure the area, decide on installation size, and determine material needs based on soil type and use.
  2. Excavate and Compact: Mark and excavate the area, compact it, and install necessary systems like irrigation and drainage.
  3. Install Base and Bedding Layers: Use a blend of sand and compost for the bedding layer, compact the base material.
  4. Level and Install Mats: Lay Drivable Grass® mats, ensuring alignment and no gaps, and compact the surface lightly.
  5. Fill and Seed: Fill mats with bedding material, seed with grass, and cover lightly for germination.
  6. Finishing: Maintain moisture for grass establishment, mow when grass reaches 2-3 inches, and allow driving after two mowing cycles.

Drivable Grass® mats consist of concrete “mufns” that are connected by a grid system. The mats can ex and conform to minor ground movements and imperfections. Drivable Grass® eliminates sharp edges common in other products, and won’t crack and break like large rigid concrete blocks. Alternative In-Fills Installation is similar to conventional pavers except laying Drivable Grass® is much easier due to the size of the mat. This thin prole, permeable, and exible concrete paving mat promotes superior root penetration and moisture containment beneath the product resulting in healthy turf. AGGREGATE INFILL Your Part in Helping the Environment. At Soil Retention, we believe it’s up to all of us to help keep our neighborhoods healthy and clean. The permeable properties of Drivable Grass® enable precipitation to inltrate into the underlying soil, thus increasing on-site storm water storage and minimizing storm water runoff that goes into the ocean, rivers and lakes… helping solve one of the biggest environmental problems facing our country today.
