Product catalog summary

Product Description

Cetol WP 567 BPD is a waterborne, translucent impregnating base stain designed for exterior protection of non-dimensionally stable wooden constructions without earth contact. It protects against blue stain fungi and rot, offering deep penetration, good run-off properties, color outlining, and UV protection. The product is ready to use and water-thinnable.

Active Ingredients and Registration

  • Propinylbutylcarbamate iodine: 0.6 g/100 g
  • Propiconazol: 0.9 g/100 g
  • Tebuconazal: 0.3 g/100 g

These active substances comply with guideline 98/8/EG and EN 599 specifications. The product is registered under BAuA number N-40653 and meets Biocide Product Directive (BPD) requirements.

Application and Consumption

Recommended uptake consumption is 120-160 ml/m² (123-164 g/m²) for timber in resistance classes 3-5. The product is applied by dipping, flow coating, or vacuum coating with a working viscosity of approximately 11 seconds (DIN cup 4 mm) at 20°C. Consumption varies between 50-160 ml/m² depending on application method and wood absorption; exact values should be determined by sample testing.

Color and Appearance

Available in various translucent colors that can be mixed. Darker shades provide better weather durability; colorless systems are unsuitable for exterior use. Wood species with extractives (e.g., Oak, Larch, tropical woods) may cause discoloration after weathering. The product uses acrylic copolymer binders and light, weather-resistant translucent pigments.

Processing Conditions

  • Do not thin the product.
  • Application temperature: 15-25 °C for substrate, air, and material with approx. 60% relative humidity.
  • Drying times at 23 °C / 50% R.H.: dust dry after ~30 minutes; recoatable after 4-6 hours.
  • Clean equipment immediately after use with water or washing agents like ST 830.

Storage and Handling

  • Store in frost-free, cool areas between +5 and +30 °C.
  • Sealed containers have a minimum shelf life of 2 years; opened cans must be sealed properly.
  • Dipping tanks should be covered and stirred or circulated regularly.
  • Dispose of residues and empty cans according to national and EU regulations.

Safety and Environmental Considerations

  • Wear protective gloves and masks during application.
  • Not for use on wood in direct contact with food or food preparation.
  • Use corrosion-resistant metal tanks (e.g., stainless steel V2A) to avoid corrosion.
  • Avoid contamination of waterways; the product contains biocidal substances and must be used according to instructions.
  • Follow standard protective measures even though the product is low emission.

General Instructions and Recommendations

  • Wood moisture content should be between 12% and 15% for application.
  • All wooden constructions must be coated on all sides with at least one primer and one intermediate coat before installation, achieving a minimum dry film thickness of 30 µm.
  • Do not sand down to the substrate to ensure proper adhesion of subsequent coatings.
  • Foam formation during application can be reduced by using defoamer WV 890.
  • Light shades on woods with high extractives may discolor due to moisture; avoid whitish translucent colors like "opal white" to prevent yellowing.

WOOD COATINGS water thinnable equipment with limited dimensi stable wooden Wear protective Product description Uptake consumption Binder type Application temperature Drying times Hazard identification General instructions Waterborne, translucent, impregnating base stain (fluid timber protecting agent) for the protection against blue stain fungi and rot of none statically subjected wooden constructions without earth contact, exterior. - deep penetration - colour outline The active substances are notified acc. guideline 98/8/EG and correspond to the specification EN 599 against blue stain Wood protection agents must be registered according to the BPD. (BPD = Biocide Product Directive) The examination follows the uptake value: 120-160 ml/m2 i.e. 123-164 g/m2 for timber in the resistance classes 3-5 With the choice of the different translucent colours, one should observe the Rosenheimer paint classification table. All translucent colours can be mixed with each other. The optical appearence of different systems can differ depending on substrate and wet film thicknesses, for this reason one should make trials before application. Dark translucent colours give better weather durability than light colours. Colourless systems are not suitable for Timbers which contain extractives i.e. Oak, Larch or tropical woods can cause discolouring - these can appear after Translucent, colour tints i.e. from the Joinery Colour Collection. Acrylic Copolymer Light genuine, weather resistant translucent pigments Dipping, flow coat Working viscosity is approx. 11 seconds in a DIN cup 4 mm i.e. approx. 23 - 25 seconds in a ISO cup 3 mm at 20° C material temperature. Brushing machine, vacuum coater 50 - 160 ml/m2, depending on application method, type and absorption properties of wood (exact values must be established through a sample) 15 - 25 °C for substrate, air and material at approx. 60 % R.H. Dust-dry: after approx. 30 minutes Recoatable: after approx. 4 - 6 hours waterborne Clean directly after use with water, if needed with washing up liquid or with ST 830. A dipping tank containing material must be covered correctly and stirred or circulated regulary. The minimum storage stability of sealed containers is 2 years. After ending of the storage time the product still can be usable, but some attributes may vary from new product. Therefore such over-stored product has to be applied with special attention. Opened cans must be sealed correctly! Store in a cool but frost-protected area. Only residue emptied cans can be disposed via recycling. Liquid wastes must be disposed of according to national regulations or according to EU-disposal key 03 02 02. In accordance with EC guide lines - Material safety data sheet, point 15. The Impregnation serves as a protection of none statically subjected wooden constructions without earth contact, exterior, against blue stain and rot according to DIN 68800, part 3. Not for use with wood which has got direct contact with food or food preparation. Only for the use of qualified Dipping tanks or reservoirs: when using metal reservoirs, we recommend using None rusting steel i.e. V2A, the use of other materials can lead to corrosion. Biocide products must be handled carefully Before use, read the identification and product information. Even when working with low emission products one should take care of the customary protection measures. Not to be used near waterways. The fluid must not entre water. Wood preservatives contain biozid substances for the protection against pest control. They are only to be used according to instructions and in permitted working areas. Misuse can lead to a hazard to health. The wood moisture content for the application of Sikkens coating systems should be between 12 % and 15 %. According to the guidelines for window coating systems, published by the Federal German Committee for Paint and Material Value Protection (Instruction Leaflet No. 18), of VOB, Parte, DIN 18363, and the recommendations of the German Institute for Window Technology e.V. in Rosenheim, all wooden constructions in buildings must be coated on all sides with at least one primer and one intermediate coat (minimum dry film thickness 30 urn) before they are incorporated in buildings. The choice and use of the coating system, especially the colour shade, should also be taken into account. Darker shades can increase the surface temperature (up to 80 C). For use in a technical industrial companies and exclusively released for Sikkens systems recomondations.
