Product catalog summary
Overview: The document describes the installation of a sheltered walkway at the Nerang Railway Station, part of the new electrified rail network between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. The walkway is designed to enhance passenger experience by providing an attractive and functional shelter.
Specifications: The walkway features a tension membrane system with two identical fan-shaped structures. These structures shade the passenger access areas on both the east and west sides of the station. The membranes are bordered by arch curves, providing a modern aesthetic and allowing natural light to illuminate the entryway.
Materials and Design: The membrane system uses Seaman Corporation's MW fluoropolymer coated fabric, known for its durability and self-cleaning properties. This fabric ensures longevity even in environments with high levels of dirt and fumes. The design integrates the membrane with other materials such as steel, glass blocks, and pre-cast walls, creating a cohesive and attractive structure.
Functionality: The membrane provides high levels of filtered light, facilitating a smooth transition for passengers moving from darker underground areas to the surface. This enhances the overall passenger experience by improving visibility and comfort.
Project Details: The project was managed by T.F. Woollam, with fabrication and installation by VESL Tension Span. The design was created by K.V. Lambert at VESL Tension Span. The membrane fabric used is Shelter-Rite® 8032 MW fluoropolymer by Seaman Corporation.
