Stadium sets dramatic pace for sports complex in Venezuela-1

Stadium sets dramatic pace for sports complex in Venezuela Shelter-Rite® fabric by Seaman Corporation was used to create an attractive and functional profile for a huge, clear span, tensioned membrane roof, topping off an impressive stadium designed to serve as the centerpiece of a municipal sports complex in Portuguesa, Venezuela. As part of the government's elaborate process to select the proper membrane for the massive roof project, Portuguesa Governor Ivan Colmenaras personallytoured Seaman'sWoosterfacilityto see howthe Shelter-Rite membrane would be created and fabricated before shipment to Venezuela. With the strong support of the governor, Shelter-Rite 8032 fabric, with a liner of TS 117 urethane, was selected for the outermembrane. The membrane, requiring over 7,000 square yards of fabric, has a bonded coating of Bright-White fluoropolymer to help maintain an attractive appearance, thanks to its self-cleaning properties and resistance to the effects of harsh weather. During the day, the fabric allows soft lighting to be transmitted into the building, primarily a basketball facility that will seat some 7,000 fans. The stadium was the first structure to be built on the 55-acre municipal sports complex, which will include an olympic stadium, two swimming pools, a gymnasium, tennis courts and various administration buildings. In addition to the coliseum, Seaman's Shelter-Rite fabrics have been used for a small structure at the entrance to the complex, while another Seaman high-performance fabric was used to create a decorative pond nearby. Plans also specified Seaman fabric to cover the swimming pools and to form an atrium at the hotel.
