Quality Warning The use of reinforced membranes for fish farming makes sense today but in order to warranty longevity and reliability in the specific application of semi closed cages, there are some quality issue to be aware of: - The adhesion between the coating (PVC or TPU) and the base fabric (polyester) is key for the seams longevity: fatigue can happen thanks to loads from waves and current. There is a risk of delamination especially if the coating is calendered. - Elongation: if you consider a positive pressure into the cage to maintain its shape tensioned, the membrane needs to behave with very low elongation and keep its shape as defined. If not, the cage will be potato like and the overpressure will be hard to maintain. Serge Ferrari composite materials are the most adapted thanks to the Precontraint technology.
