Product Overview:
PYRAN® Star is a transparent fire-rated glass-ceramic designed for architectural applications, produced using SCHOTT’s rolling process. It is certified by Underwriters Laboratories for fire-protection ratings up to 90 minutes in windows and 180 minutes in doors. Safety-rated applications are available in filmed and laminated versions, meeting CPSC impact requirements according to ANSI Z 97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 (Cat. I and II).

  • Not a barrier to radiant heat; does not meet ASTM E-119 or UL 263 standards
Processing and Labeling:
PYRAN® Star is available in stock sheets or cut to size. Customers must be UL certified with SCHOTT’s endorsement for processing. Each lite must be permanently labeled with product and manufacturer’s name, UL Mark, and fire rating.
Storage and Handling:
  • Store in dry conditions, stacked upright or at a slight angle
  • Separate panels with soft cork pads or acid-free tissue paper
  • Handle with care during transportation, storage, inspection, and installation
Installation:
Install into fire-rated frame and window assemblies with the same rating. Inspect panels for damage before installation. Use calcium silicate setting blocks and PYRAN® Star classified glazing tape. Follow frame supplier’s instructions for installation.
Maintenance and Care:
Clean with a soft, non-abrasive cloth and mild soap or detergent. Rinse with clean water and avoid metal or sharp components contacting the panel surface.
