Product catalog summary
Introduction
Schorn & Groh GmbH is involved in the upcycling of old oak railway sleepers from the Egyptian state railway, which is a significant transport system in Egypt with a rich history. The railway network is the second oldest after the British one and is undergoing renovation to replace obsolete materials.

Upcycling Initiative
The company is transforming these massive oak beams into new products, highlighting the concept of upcycling at a high level. This initiative not only preserves the historical value of the materials but also gives them a new purpose.

Material Testing and Safety
The material from the railway sleepers has been tested by EPH for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). The results classify the material in category 1, indicating it is safe for use in toys with prolonged skin contact. This suggests that the use of these sleepers indoors is unproblematic.

Certification
The upcycled material is certified according to FSC Recycled 100%, ensuring that it meets environmental and sustainability standards.

PAH Content Analysis
A table provided in the document lists the PAH contents in a sample, with specific measurements for compounds like Phenanthrene and Fluoranthene. The total PAH content in the sample is 0.3 mg/kg, which is within permissible limits for safety.
