Both the growth of the population and the economic performance indicate a strong demand in the future. With the second oldest railway network after the British one, Egypt has both tradition and the need for renovation. The old oak sleepers are now obsolete and will be replaced by forward-looking materials. But the days of the old sleepers are far from over! Railway sleepers from Egypt EPH tested the material for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). The sample taken is classified in category 1: „Materials in toys having normal and prolonged skin contact (longer than 30 s)“. An extract of the test report is given below. The complete test report is available on request (in German language). The use of the sleepers indoors is therefore unproblematic.
