Grey was associated at one time with bog oaks, trees that lay for centuries in wetlands. Over the years the tannic acid in the wood reacts with the gases in the moor to create colours ranging from dark brown and black to grey. The innovative manufacturing technique used to make Shining Grey mimics the lengthy discoloration process in a bog in a mere fraction of the time. Just like the natural model, our process is gentle and environmentally friendly. Shining Grey contains no hazardous substances. The change of colour is natural and complete. It is possible to manage the process so that the colour is almost consistent and evenly distributed throughout the wood.
