GEWE-therm TPS

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the GEWE-therm® TPS, a thermal edge bond system by SCHOLLGLAS designed to improve the thermal efficiency of insulated glass panes. This system aligns with German energy-saving regulations and environmental standards.

Specifications
The TPS edge bond system is made from a polyisobutyl mass with an integrated desiccant, ensuring minimal heat bridges and improved insulation. It enhances the Uw-value of windows by at least 0.1 W/m²K and is suitable for windowpane gaps up to 20 mm, including shaped panes.

Advantages
  • Reduces condensation and mildew risk on pane edges.
  • Minimizes cold air drafts, enhancing comfort.
  • UV-resistant and gas-proof, increasing the lifespan of insulation glass.
  • Seamless integration with glass, maintaining aesthetic appeal.

Performance Comparison
Compared to conventional aluminium edge bonds, TPS offers superior thermal insulation, reducing thermal bridges and improving temperature consistency.

Technical Data
  • Material: Polyisobutylen paste
  • Heat conductivity: 0.25 W/m²K
  • Thickness: 6.0 mm
  • Gap between glass panes: 6 to 20 mm

Product Characteristics
  • Excellent glass adhesion and low permeability to water and gas.
  • Flexible edge bond reduces tension and shear loads.
  • Compatible with various glass designs and configurations.

Conclusion
The GEWE-therm® TPS system offers significant improvements in thermal insulation and energy efficiency for insulated glass systems, contributing to better living comfort and environmental sustainability.

GEWE-therm TPS-1

Protection of resources with an improved thermal edge bond system Thermal edge bond systems with a ‘warm edge’ reduce the thermal conductivity of insulated panes and improve the Uw -value of a window. SCHOLLGLAS offers the low energy TPS thermal edge bond system ‘GEWE therm® TPS’ with optimum material properties. Insulating glass systems with improved thermal edge bonds optimize the transition of glass to frame in terms of heat insulation and above all make a clear contribution to energy saving – in line with both the current German energy saving regulation (EnEV) and the environment. Conventional thermal edge bond (aluminium) TPS thermal edge bond Thermal bridges in comparison The advantages of TPS spacers are obvious: Through the improved thermal insulation in the border area, the formation of condensation on the edges of the pane is reduced and consequently, the risk of mildew formation is reduced. In wooden windows the damage to the framework through moisture is significantly minimized also. The blast of cold air on the window is reduced and even temperatures are created. The cold air near to the window which is often perceived as a draught disappears totally. Minimal differences in temperature mean greater cosiness and better living comfort. In addition, the thermoplastic material offers a UV-resistant and gas proof bonded edge which, in the case of strong pump movements as a result of air conditioning loads (pane deflection), remains guaranteed. As a result, this increases the life of the insulation glass. The smooth and precise TPS coat – after the application a quick connection to the glass will happen – as well as the black colouration of the material make the thermoplastic material to stand optimally in the background in the air space between the glass panes.

GEWE-therm TPS-2

The TPS edge bond consists of a polyisobutyl mass with an integrated desiccant. It is a pure synthetic-based system which ensures that heat bridges between the glass and the frame are minimized and that the insulation is significantly increased. The Uw -value of the window improves by at least 0.1 W/m2K. The TPS edge bond system ‘GEWE therm® TPS’ is available for windowpane gaps up to 20 mm and can be used as well for shaped panes without any problems.
