    • Schluter®-RENO-RAMP: For commercial applications, providing smooth transitions for wheel carts, available in anodized aluminum.
Material Properties and Areas of Application
Schluter profiles are chemical-resistant. Stainless steel is suitable for high stress and chemical resistance, while aluminum requires chemical suitability testing. Anodized aluminum is not color-stable outdoors.
Cutting Profiles
Profiles can be cut with hacksaws, angle grinders, and chop saws. Burrs should be removed before installation.
Installation
Select the appropriate profile, apply thin-set mortar, press the anchoring leg into the mortar, and ensure full coverage and support of tile edges. Profiles should be flush or slightly lower than the tiled surface.
Installation Procedures
1. Fill joints completely with grout or setting material, using non-damaging tools. Remove setting materials immediately.
2. For RENO-T profiles, select according to joint width. The joint cavity should be at least 3/8" deep and clean. Fill with elastomeric sealant and insert the profile.
Maintenance
Schluter® profiles require no special maintenance, are mold and fungi resistant, and should be cleaned with pH-neutral agents. Stainless steel should be cleaned regularly to prevent corrosion. Avoid cleaning agents with hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and chlorides.
Product Specifications
Schluter® profiles are available in stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and brass, with specific dimensions and item numbers.
Warranty
Schluter® Systems offers a 5-year limited warranty on floor profiles, covering manufacturing defects and performance as described in the technical data sheet. The warranty applies only to installations in the USA and Canada and excludes indirect or consequential damages.
Exclusions
The warranty does not cover damages from war, natural disasters, improper installation, or normal wear and tear. It also excludes variations in texture, color, or shade.
Limited Warranty Overview
The warranty excludes damages from external factors like marketing materials, floor covering failures, or overvoltage. Exterior applications and non-approved floor coverings are not covered unless approved in writing.
Conditions for Warranty Validity
The warranty is void if products are improperly stored, installed, or used contrary to design or written materials. Abusive or abnormal use also voids the warranty.
Disclaimer
The warranty is limited to the expressed terms. All other warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are disclaimed. Any implied warranties are limited to the duration of this warranty.
Non-Transferability
The warranty is non-transferable unless authorized in writing by the Schluter Systems Technical Services Director. It applies only to the original owner.
Making a Claim
To make a claim, notify Schluter Systems in writing within 30 days of discovering a defect, providing proof of purchase and installation details. Schluter Systems reserves the right to inspect defective products.
Claims Process
U.S. claims should be sent to Schluter Systems L.P. in New York, while Canadian claims should be sent to Schluter Systems (Canada), Inc. in Quebec. If required invoices are not provided, Schluter Systems may pay an amount equal to the average reasonable costs of a comparable installation, subject to arbitration if disputed.

FLOOR PROFILES-1

Because ceramic and stone tiles are inherently brittle, their exposed edges can chip and crack if left unprotected. Transitions between floor surfaces and at thresholds are particularly vulnerable to damage. Schluter-Systems offers a variety of profiles to provide edge protection and transitioning at thresholds and between adjacent surfaces, resulting in durable, maintenance-free tiled coverings. The profiles can be grouped into two categories: transitions between same-height surfaces and transitions between different-height surfaces Application and Function Same-height Transitions 1.1 Schluter®-SCHIENE is designed to provide edging for tile coverings. Typical applications include edge protection where tile is bordered by carpet, at expansion joints, or as a decorative edging for stairs. SCHIENE is available in stainless steel, solid brass, aluminum, and anodized aluminum. The profile features a trapezoid- perforated anchoring leg, which is secured in the mortar bond coat beneath the tile, and an 87° sloped vertical wall section that transfers point loads to the substrate and surface covering while protecting tile edges from damage. SCHIENE, in solid brass, aluminum, and anodized aluminum, features a 5° sloped top flange and fillet at the anchoring leg/vertical section interface to enhance edge protection by reducing stresses on the tile, and, in sizes greater than 1/4" (6 mm), features an integrated joint spacer that establishes a defined joint cavity between the tile and the profile. The anchoring leg of SCHIENE, in all materials, is available with a special radius perforation “R” so that the profile can be used to form curves. / / / / / // // // /s/s/ss 1.6 Schluter®-DECO is designed to provide decorative lines within tile coverings and edge protection at transitions from tile coverings to other same-height surface coverings, such as wood or carpet. The profile is available in stainless steel, solid brass, chrome-plated 1.7 Schluter®-RENO-V solid brass, and anodized aluminum. DECO features a trapezoid-perforated anchoring leg, which is secured in the mortar bond coat beneath the tile, and a 1/4" (6 mmj-wide visible surface that meets the high aesthetic requirements of showrooms, lobbies, galleries, exhibition booths, etc. The anchoring leg of DECO, in solid brass, chrome-plated solid brass, and anodized aluminum, is available with a special radius perforation “R” so that the profile can be used to form curves. DECO in chrome-plated brass requires a relatively large bending radius.

FLOOR PROFILES 1.3 Schluter®-RENO-T is designed to provide transitions between existing same-height, hard-surface floor coverings (e.g., ceramic tile or natural stone, parquet flooring, concrete pavers, laminate, etc.), primarily in retrofit applications. The profile is available in stainless steel, solid brass, and anodized aluminum. RENO-T is installed within the existing joint cavity and overlaps adjoining surface materials, thus preventing edges from becoming damaged when subjected to mechanical stress. RENO-T, in brass and anodized aluminum size 9/14, is flexible in the lateral direction...

FLOOR PROFILES-3

FLOOR PROFILES the suitability of a proposed type of profile must be verified based on the anticipated chemical, mechanical, and/or other stresses. Exceptions and special considerations are listed below: Stainless steel profiles are roll-formed, resulting in a slightly different contour from those made of extruded brass or aluminum. Stainless steel can sustain high mechanical stresses and is particularly well suited for applications requiring resistance against chemicals and acids; for example in the food industry, breweries, dairies, commercial kitchens, and hospitals, as well as in residential...

Work with materials and tools that will not scratch or damage sensitive surfaces. Setting materials must be removed immediately. RENO-T 1. Select the profile according to joint width, to ensure proper support of the lateral crosspiece. 2. The joint cavity must be at least 3/8" (9 mm) deep and free of debris. Substances that inhibit adhesion must be removed from the sides of the joint. 3. Fill the joint with elastomeric sealant such as Schluter®-KERDI-FIX...
