Savant Host: HST-4501 Description The Savant Host (HST-4501)—within a Savant System —provides numerous functions including high-level automation and control functions, user interface interpretations, system administration, and monitoring. The HST-4501, within any Savant System, may act as the main media server housing and controlling playback of any iTunes® content and supports mobile devices (iPad®, iPad mini®, iPod touch®, and/or iPhone®). The user interface software resides in the Savant HST-4501. The user interface software communicates with Savant’s entire line of user interfaces including remotes, keypads, and mobile devices to on-screen displays using applications such as, TrueCommand™ and TrueControl™. The user interface software provides advanced twoway control of components and services that are commonly deployed in automation and control environments. A Savant HST-4501 is a key building block of any Savant audio/video and control, sound, communication or energy monitoring system. The HST-4501 contains a single Savant host and is packaged in a 1U rack mountable shelf (see RCK-3000). Savant also offers Savant hosts with solid state drives (see HST-4501S, HST-4502S). The solid state drive option is ideal for high vibration applications such as private transportation including yachts and luxury coaches. The HST-4502 and HST-4502S have the same features and capabilities of the HST-4501 and HST-4501S with the added benefits of host redundancy. The HST-4502 and HST-4502S are highly available, ‘always-on’ solutions that limit automation and control service interruptions. The redundant host architecture ensures Savant service availability in case of a catastrophic host failure.
