About Santa & Cole Santa & Cole is a small, independent and global editor of good design with its roots in Belloch (Barcelona). It was founded in 1985 by Nina Masó, Javier Nieto Santa and Gabriel Ordeig Cole, in a decade of upheaval in Spain, where everything seemed possible after the dictatorship. In the beginning, we designed original lamps for Barcelona’s most exclusive bars, which led to illuminating the homes of their regular patrons. In the 90s, the excitement brought by the Olympic games in Barcelona inspired some of the larger lamps such as the Estadio or the Moaré, in response to the need for illuminating places of collective coexistence. Our headquarters are located in Parc de Belloch, an estate sprawling over 140 hectares about 30 km from Barcelona, towards France. Belloch (bello loco, a beautiful place) has been in existence since 972 and has a rich story to tell. The school building, an example of Catalan rationalism from the 1960s, was an educational residence for almost 30 years, before closing its doors in the summer of 1994.
