Toyo Ito es una de las grandes mentes de la arquitectura contemporanea. Licenciado en Arquitectura por la Universidad de Tokio en 1965, en 1971 establece su propia oficina URBOT (Urban Robot), la cual es refundada en 1979 como ITOAA (Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects). Desde su estudio con sede central en Japon proyecta de forma global.
