It determines the critical slip angle of a shod foot on test tiles, using a ramp impregnated with a lubricant sloped at an increasingly high angle. DIN 51130 CRITICAL SLIP ANGLE OF SHOD FOOT MEAN ANGLE OF RAMP (α) CLASSIFICATION GROUP This standard is suitable for public areas in regular contact with liquids or slippery substances.

The German standard, DIN51097, is designed to determine the slip resistance of bare feet on wet surfaces.
