Product catalog summary
Product Overview
SP Firestop VRB is an open-state cavity fire barrier designed for building facades, combining an intumescent strip with high-density non-combustible ROCKWOOL insulation. It allows for ventilation and drainage under normal conditions and expands to seal the cavity during a fire, preventing fire and smoke passage.

Description
The product is specifically used with ROCKWOOL RAINSCREEN DUO SLAB and is encapsulated in a weather-resistant polythene sleeve. It is tested to ASFP TGD 19 standards and is suitable for high-rise buildings over 18m. It is installed horizontally and accommodates cavity widths up to 300mm.

Applications and Advantages
SP Firestop VRB is suitable for ventilated facade systems, offering up to 60 minutes of fire integrity and insulation. It complies with NHBC and CWCT guidance, is weather-resistant, and simplifies high-rise building design.

Performance
The barrier must be at least 25mm wider than the insulation thickness. It provides 60-minute fire performance with a maximum open cavity of 25mm and 30-minute performance with up to 35mm.

Technical Information
Complies with building regulations in the UK and Ireland. Dimensions include a length of 1000mm and thickness of 75mm. Fire performance varies with cavity width.

Installation
Includes SP Fixing Brackets and Pigtail Screws for secure installation. The polythene wrap should not be removed. Brackets are fixed at 500mm centers, and the barrier is impaled mid-depth onto them.

Sustainability
ROCKWOOL promotes sustainable insulation production. The product is recyclable and does not contain harmful gases.

SP FIRESTOP VRB Consisting of an intumescent strip fixed to high density non-combustible ROCKWOOL insulation, SP Firestop VRB is designed to form an open-state cavity barrier within the building facade. This allows the product to maintain ventilation and drainage of the cavity under normal service conditions, while in the event of a fire the intumescent strip will quickly expand outwards to seal off the cavity, preventing the passage of fire and smoke.
