Acoustic Solution

The system included a single layer of Dual Density roofing boards, ROCKWOOL® Acoustic Membrane, and Infill. This combination provided an effective solution, achieving a sound rating of 47 dB with sunpipe lighting tubes and 49 dB without.

CASE STUDY DECEMBER 2012 Sports Arena, Stratford Case Study FACT FILE Location London, UK Year 2011 Design Managers Buckingham Group Contractor IRC Carocelle Segment/building use Sports and Music Arena The challenge Roof and cladding specialist, IRC Carocelle, were asked to meet a strict 45 dB sound rating for the roof of a high profile arena in Stratford, East London. The venue was built to stage small-to-medium live music and sporting events, such as handball, fencing, basketball and wheelchair rugby, as well as community sports and athlete training. Meeting the acoustic rating was vital to optimise the audience experience and to ensure that the bass frequencies and crowd noises don’t disturb residents living just 700 metres away.
