REFUpmu

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document outlines the regulations and technical specifications related to the Renewable Energy Act in Germany, focusing on photovoltaic (PV) systems and their compliance with feed-in and network safety management. It highlights the importance of remote control power management and the requirements for retrofitting existing PV plants.
Regulatory Requirements: Since 31 December 2011, all PV systems in Germany must participate in feed-in and network safety management. PV plants with a maximum power of up to 30 kW can limit feed-in supply to 70% of module output. Existing PV plants with power of 30 kW or higher, operational since 1 January 2009, must be retrofitted by specific deadlines.
REFUpmu Power Management Unit: The REFUpmu offers control and regulation functions as required by the Renewable Energy Act, including power limitation and reactive power management for connected REFUsol inverters. It can display total power output and energy in graph format via the REFUlog monitoring portal. The unit's scope can be extended with additional sensors.
Technical Specifications:
  • Grid Code Compliance: Meets all German low and medium voltage grid regulations.
  • Electrical Data: Max supply power is 18 W, with supply voltage AC 115-230 V / 50-60 Hz.
  • General Data: Operating notifications via LED, power reduction specified through digital inputs, and reactive power via analog interfaces or programmable curves.
  • Interfaces: Includes Ethernet, RS485, USB, and digital/analog inputs and outputs. Can control up to 62 inverters with a total branch length of 1000 m.
  • Data Logging: Logs power limitation and reactive power signals for system operator's lost earnings confirmation.
  • Installation: Options for wall mounting or top hat rail installation.
Communication: The REFUpmu communicates with the REFUlog portal via Ethernet, allowing evaluation of internal data loggers without additional connections.

Technical datasheet REFUpmu Tasks required by law Professional   project support Power   limitation according to the directive The rules and regulations on renewable energy are constantly being updated in Germany and many other countries. The current version of Germany’s Renewable Energy Act requires all PV systems brought into operation since 31 December 2011 to take part in feed-in and network safety management. Comparable rules also apply in other countries. The issue of feed-in and network safety management is therefore gaining importance in more and more PV markets. One important measure is that the network operator can influence the power of a plant by remote control. An exception to this feature are PV plants with a maximum power of up to 30 kW, which can limit the feed-in supply to 70% of the module output. Existing PV plants with a power or 30 kW or higher, brought into operation since 1 January 2009, must be retrofitted for feed-in management: PV plants from 30 to 100 kW no later than 31 December 2013; PV plants with 100 kW and higher no later than 30 June 2012. The power management unit – REFUpmu for short – can offer you and your network operator control and regulation-functions as required under the Renewable Energy Act, like power limitation and reactive power of all connected REFUsol 003K to 630K inverters. In conjunction with our REFUlog monitoring portal, you can also display the total power output and total energy in graph format. The scope of supply of the REFUpmu can also be extended according to your preferences, by connecting additional sensors for example.
