The smooth shape invites a large number of people to take a place. Deliberately a bar was created in longitudinal direction just above the floor, which serves to place the feet on. The result is a posture that was previously seen on many restaurant tables: a relaxed, légère attitude that comes up when a certain amount of coziness is available. The type of construction (sheet metal and wood) has drawn its inspiration from the modern details of the carpentry crafts;...

Today, he is an internationally established designer based in Zürich. He manages to unite tradition with innovation, joy and energy in his designs. The Stammtisch is inspired by the table for the regular visitor in a cafe. Alfredo Häberli translated this idea for the home and project market. The edges are not simply vertical, but their angle seems to move outwards at both ends, while moving slightly inwards at the sides. The Stammtisch (= regulars’ table) comes in various...

Open the catalog to page 6Stammplatz –Alfredo Häberli The “Stammplatz” was designed to suit our “Stammtisch”. Inspired by the traditional wooden hand-made chairs used in the Swiss Alps, “Stammplatz” is split in three main parts: the legs, the seat and the backrest. The same subtle detail from the “Stammtisch” is visible on the chair`s seat. The edge is not simply vertical but changes all around, therefore lets the seat and backrest meet in a very direct matter. The angle of the seat`s edge, has been considerate to directly provide a perfectly comfortable angle for the backrest. The simple wooden construction brings extra...

Table, Chair and barstool, are distinctive assemblages of hefty form and carefully carved proportions. The strikingly graphic tapered shape of the leg profiles sets a typical signature to both Table and Chair, gently contrasting with the soft lines of the table tops, seat and backrest planes. The possible combinations, from...

It is about proportion, modularity and purity with character. We see an array of objects , some coloured, resting on trestle bases - a series of ideograms. This informal character implies variation, movement and adaptability. The temporary made temporally permanent. Time and space, balance and expression”. – Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Designers

Raised ‘collars’ on all four edges serve as door and drawer handles, and give the units a particular flatness, as though they have no up or down, left or right. Pieces with a front panel and pieces open like a bookshelf work together naturally, giving this modular piece an organic wholeness.” –Oki Sato, Designer (founder of studio Nendo) detail lowboard with 1 drawer
